FAQ
When the truck is fully loaded, are both the manual and hydraulic dump beds safe to operate?
Yes. LLAMA Trucks are designed with stability and controlled dumping in mind. The Platinum features a gas-strut-assisted manual dump bed, while the Thunder and Apex use heavy-duty hydraulic power dump systems for smooth, controlled unloading. A unified mechanical braking system, anti-roll-back protection, and hill descent control help keep the vehicle secure during loading and unloading, reducing the risk of unwanted movement or instability when carrying heavy materials such as gravel, soil, or debris.
Can LLAMA Trucks handle steep hills and difficult off-road conditions?
Yes. Unlike typical lightweight golf carts, LLAMA Trucks are engineered with high-torque electric power for demanding utility work. The LLAMA lineup is designed to handle slopes of up to a 30-degree gradient, including when carrying a load. For more demanding off-road conditions, models such as the Apex and Atlas feature high-performance motors up to 4,000W, deep-tread All-Terrain tires, and advanced McPherson independent front suspension to help handle steep inclines, mud, uneven terrain, and rough trails.
Do I need a special charging station or high-voltage outlet for a LLAMA Truck?
No special charging station is required. LLAMA Trucks come with an Official Universal Smart Charger that can connect directly to a standard 110V–240V AC wall outlet. You can charge your truck in a barn, garage, warehouse, or other suitable location without installing expensive EV charging infrastructure. Simply plug it in after your workday and charge it overnight so it is ready for the next day's work.
Can LLAMA Trucks be driven on public roads, and how are they registered?
LLAMA Truck models are designed to meet federal Low-Speed Vehicle (LSV) standards, but public-road use, speed limits, insurance, and registration requirements vary by state and municipality. We recommend checking with your local DMV or applicable municipal authority before operating on public roads. For eligible customers, LLAMA also offers an LSV Pre-Registered Street Legal Package, in which our team coordinates the registration and licensing process before shipment and provides the required vehicle documentation with the truck.
How do LLAMA Trucks perform in extremely cold winter weather?
LLAMA Trucks are equipped with high-capacity lithium-ion battery systems designed for a wide range of operating conditions. Like all battery-powered vehicles, extremely cold temperatures can temporarily reduce battery range and performance. Depending on the model and conditions, LLAMA Trucks can provide approximately 40 to 100 miles of unloaded range. For operators working regularly in harsh winter conditions, the LLAMA Meridian is particularly well suited, with a fully enclosed, weather-sealed cabin and optional HVAC heating to help keep operators warm and productive.
